Dream interpretations: Part 4

Fine dining, yet completely different: an art performance before a large audience in which compost waste is consumed alongside spaghetti. Upon closer inspection, however, it becomes apparent that it is all just a trick.

Shown here is a scene from It will be my treasure to have your dreams. This film originated from the 2023 exhibition Das Hotel ein Traum at the Kurhaus Bergün – an exhibition centered on the theme of dreams, where visitors could dream on-site. A total of 14 dreams submitted at the hotel during the exhibition period were subsequently brought together by several artists in the film.

„In the dream, I was performing an art piece before a large live audience. The scene featured a beautifully set table, with me dressed in formal evening wear. At the start, I placed my compost waste on the table and used tongs to help myself to some of it. I piled it onto my plate – which already held some spaghetti – and began eating the pasta mixed with the compost with evident relish. The live audience was repulsed. Yet it was all just a trick: I wasn’t actually eating the food; I was merely making it appear as though I was. Finally, I revealed how the food had actually ended up in a trash can beneath the table. I carried the trash can out of the hall; the audience breathed a sigh of relief and began to applaud.“
